レッスン25：「～しました」「～しませんでした」の言い方

こんにちは。戸田です。

今日は、「I played ～」「I did not play ～」など、規則動詞の過去形の使い方を練習します。

過去形の意味を表すには、動詞の最後を「～ed」形に変えます。

たとえば、

Mr. Yamashita studies English hard.
（山下さんは、英語を熱心に勉強します。）

という英文なら「study (studies)」という動詞の最後を
「～ed」形に変えて「studied」にします。

Mr. Yamashita studied English hard.
（山下さんは、英語を熱心に勉強しました。）

これで過去形の意味を表すことができます。

また、「～しませんでした。」という否定文を作るには、主語の後ろに「did not（didn’t）」を入れて、「did not」の後ろの動詞は原形を使います。

Mr. Yamashita did not study English hard.
（山下さんは、英語を熱心に勉強しませんでした。）

という具合です。

■ 英作文の練習

では、以下の日本語を英語で言ってみましょう。必ず声に出してください。

このメールの下の方に英文を載せていますので、分からないときはすぐに確認してもＯＫです。

1. 私は、昨日、サッカーをしました。

2.彼は、私に、5分前に電話をしました。

3. 彼女は、今朝、このパンを焼きました。

4.ヒロシは、去年、その映画を見ました。

5.私は、3週間前、そのホテルを予約しました。

6. あなたは、昨夜、おいしい夕食を作りました。

7. クリスは、とても一生懸命、日本語を勉強しました。

8. 昨夜、雨が降りました。

9. 私は、1時間前、そのＤＶＤを見終わりました。

10.私は、すでに、その書類をチェックしました。

11. 私は、昨日、働きませんでした。

12. 私たちは、昨日、門にペンキを塗りませんでした。

13.私は、昨夜、遅くまで起きていませんでした。

14.マイコは、皿を洗いませんでした。

15.ケイコは、その問題について、あまり心配しませんでした。

■ 英作文の練習（英文例）

1. 私は、昨日、サッカーをしました。
I played soccer yesterday.

2.彼は、私に、5分前に電話をしました。
He called me five minutes ago.

3. 彼女は、今朝、このパンを焼きました。
She baked this bread this morning.

4.ヒロシは、去年、その映画を見ました。
Hiroshi watched the movie last year.

I booked the hotel three weeks ago.

6. あなたは、昨夜、おいしい夕食を作りました。
You cooked delicious dinner last night.

7. クリスは、とても一生懸命、日本語を勉強しました。
Chris studied Japanese very hard.

8. 昨夜、雨が降りました。
It rained last night.

9. 私は、1時間前、そのＤＶＤを見終わりました。
I finished watching the DVD one hour ago.

10.私は、すでに、その書類をチェックしました。
I checked the document already.

11. 私は、昨日、働きませんでした。
I didn’t work yesterday.

12. 私たちは、昨日、門にペンキを塗りませんでした。
We didn’t paint the gate yesterday.

13.私は、昨夜、遅くまで起きていませんでした。
I didn’t stay up late last night.

14.マイコは、皿を洗いませんでした。
Maiko didn’t wash the dishes.

15.ケイコは、その問題について、あまり心配しませんでした。
Keiko didn’t worry about the issue too much.

16.昨夜、雪は降りませんでした。
It didn’t snow last night.

17.彼女は、交差点で止まりませんでした。
She didn’t stop at the intersection.

18. 私は、そのスープを味見しませんでした。
I didn’t taste the soup.

19. デイブは、昨日、その作業を終わらせませんでした。
Dave didn’t finish the task yesterday.

20. 彼は、その新製品を試してみませんでした。
He didn’t try the new product.

■Hiroshi:

はい、終わりました
I finished my entire proposal about the special menu for our region.
地域限定の特別メニューについての提案書は、全て完了です。
It took me a week.
1週間かかりました。

■Chris:
That’s good. I’ll have a look at it next week.
よかったわね。来週、見ておくわね。
Well. Today’s Friday.
ああ、今日は金曜日ね。
Do you have any plans on the weekend?
週末の予定はある？

■Hiroshi:
My parents will visit me from Osaka for two days, so I’ll spend some time with them.
両親が、大阪から2日間、こちらに出てくるので、一緒に過ごすつもりです。
I’ll take them to Tokyo Sky Tree.
東京スカイツリーに連れて行ってあげるんです。
I was planning it for a while.
だいぶ前から、計画していたんですよ。

■Chris:
Oh, that’s exciting!
まあ、ワクワクするわね！
I went there three weeks ago.
私は、3週間前に行ったわ。

■Hiroshi:
Really? Did you go up to the top?
本当ですか？上まで登りましたか？

■Chris:
No, I didn’t. When I went there, it was very crowded.
いいえ、私が行った時は、とっても混んでいたの。
Lots of people were lining up for the tickets to the observation deck.
展望デッキへのチケットを買うのに、たくさんの人たちが並んでいたのよ。
So, I gave up and went shopping to Soramachi mall.
それで、あきらめて、ソラマチで、買い物をすることにしたの。
I didn’t spend much money, but I enjoyed it there so much.
そんなにお金は使わなかったけど、とっても楽しかったわ。

■Hiroshi:
I see.
そうですか。
I bought the tickets for the observation deck online already.
ぼくは、展望デッキへのチケットをネットで買ってあるんです。
My parents don’t come here so often, so they can’t miss it.
両親は、あまりここに来ないので、見逃せないんですよ。

■Chris:
That’s a good idea.
それは、いい考えね。

■Hiroshi:
What are you doing tomorrow?
明日何をしているんですか？

■Chris:
Well, not too much.
う～ん、あんまり予定はないわ。

Maybe, I’ll go to the town with my camera and take some interesting photos.
多分、カメラを持って、街に出て、何か面白い写真でも撮ろうかしら。
I find lots of things are exotic here, so I like taking photos of them.
ここでは、たくさんの物が珍しくて、写真を撮るのが大好きなの。
Then I can put those on my Facebook page to show all my family and friends in the States.
その写真をフェイスブックに載せて、アメリカの家族や友だちみんなに見せられるし。
I like doing it in these days.
最近は、それをするのが好きなの。

■Hiroshi:
Is that right? Well, are you interested in joining us for lunch tomorrow?
なるほど。あの～、明日のランチ、ぼくたちとご一緒しませんか？
We’ll eat Monja-yaki.
ぼくたち、もんじゃ焼きを食べるんです。
I think it’s something interesting for you.
クリスさんにとって興味深いかなと思いますよ。

■Chris:
What is Monja-yaki?
もんじゃ焼きって、何？

■Hiroshi:
It is Tokyo style savory thin pancakes.
東京風の美味しくて薄いパンケーキです。
I didn’t like it too much before, but now I quite like it.
ぼく、前は好きじゃなかったんですけど、今は、けっこう好きなんです。
You can take interesting photos to put up on your Facebook page!
面白い写真を撮って、フェイスブックに載せられますよ。

■Chris:
Wow, thank you. I think I’ll join you tomorrow.
わあ、ありがとう。じゃあ、明日、ご一緒させていだこうかしら。
Well, Hiro, Do you do Facebook?
ねえ、ヒロ、あなたは、フェイスブックする？
I love SNS and I do Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
私はSNSが好きで、フェイスブック、ツイッター、インスタグラムをやっています。

■Hiroshi:
Really? How can you manage three SNSs?
本当ですか。SNSを三つもどうやって使いこなすんですか。
I have my Facebook account.
ぼくは、フェイスブックのアカウントを持っています。
I was thinking about Twitter as well, but I think I’m too lazy.
ツイッターも考えていたんですけど、ぼく、怠けちゃってだめなんですよね。
Can I send you the friend request on Facebook?
フェイスブックで友達リクエストを送ってもいいですか？

■Chris:
Sure. Do your parents do Facebook, too?
もちろん。ヒロのご両親もフェイスブックをされるの？

■Hiroshi:
Yes, they do.
はい。しています。
In fact, they like people from different countries.
実は、両親は、外国の方々が大好きなんです。
Maybe, they’ll ask you to be friends on Facebook tomorrow.
多分、明日、クリスさんとフェイスブックで友達になりたい、って言うんじゃないかな。
■Chris:
That’s very interesting.
まあ、ほんとに面白いわ。
I’m looking forward to seeing your parents tomorrow and eating the exotic pancakes, hmmm…what was it?
明日、あなたのご両親にお会いするのを楽しみにしているわね。それから、その珍しい食べ物、う～んと、何だったかしら？

■Hiroshi:
Monja-yaki.
もんじゃ焼きですね。

■Chris:
That’s it!
